So the button has been stealing my blinds like its been his job. I've haven't been playing back a ton, but here is an instance where I do.
The BB JUST sat down, so no real reads. Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $85.65 UTG+1: $98.50 CO: $36.50 Button: $131.70 Hero: $119.55 BB: $100 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 folds, Button raises to $3, Hero raises to $10, BB calls, Button folds. Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($23, 2 players) Hero ??????? Whats our plan, what's his hand range. |

When BB cold calls, that is usually a good hand like 99+, AJ+.
I would just try to check all the way if unimproved. Call 1 or maybe 2 bets on the way. |

I think you need to raise more preflop (like to 13 or so). i hate spots like this, I know its fishy but I often times check this flop to see what is going down because if you lead and get raised now you have to play for stacks when you are getting 2:1 and probably behind. If it checks around on the flop I will usually bet a non broadway turn. If either player bets flop I think I call and check call because I guess it lets people bluff/value bet worse hands as opposed to playing + EV by leading. I like to see what others have to say because my line might be bad.

don't raise KJs in this spot. it's a reverse-implied-odds bitch of a hand, for reasons which should now be obvious. bet flop: he's not pushing anything that beats you with the possible exception of QJ.

ok, i min raise the flop. I thought why is he potting it in a reraised pot. So i Min raise, he calls. Turn is 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Wouldn't do it always, but 3-betting a button open with this hand is perfectly fine, and you have a lot of outs vs. the range of hands that button players tend to call with. Basically if the button calls and you flop a K, you have a decent hand. Your post implies that OP knew that the BB had a good hand, which is of course, silly. And, OP, check the flop. This is often a hand like 99-QQ/AK that BB was afraid to 4-bet with, or he's kind of thick and thinks that set-mining vs. 3-bets is a good idea. In either case, betting probably gets him to fold 2-outers and call/raise when he crushes you. |

[/ QUOTE ] Why are you assuming that he is smart enough to know that in a re-raised pot, you don't really need to pot? That sounds like a dangerous assumption to make. I bet you are very often behind here, but I also think you have successfully bloated the pot so [censored] much that you can't fold (good job, there...). |
