Default bad play with KK?

Full Tilt 500K gauranteed. There are 28 people left. places 19-27 cash $2400, 28th gets $1900.

I am 26th/28 in chips with 160,000. I pick up KK in MP.

Blinds are 5,000/10,000

I decided i want to double up, so I don't push, I bump it to 52,000. The big blind, which is the big stack with 660,000 calls.

I push the flop of all unders. He calls with a flush draw + gut shot. I'm out of the tourney when the flush comes.

I am wondering, is it better to push there preflop, and avoid confrontation, and keep tight to slide into $500 more? With the condition of my stack, making it to 19th for a higher payday was unlikely. Or, should I have risked the double up for a chance to go further in the tourney? I guess its a general question of how to play premium hands when your shortstacked late in a tourney, right on the edge of a payout increase...

Thanks!

screw that. dont worry about the extra $500. if you're that worried about the $500 then maybe you shouldnt be playing. You want to put your money in when you're way ahead.

There's no way I'd push KK here with 16 BBs, you're exactly right, I want to double, not steal the blinds. I would have actually raised a lot less than you did. Obviously getting it in on a flop of unders is fine.

The only question I would ask is what were you doing before - pushing or making normal raises? Just do what you had been doing before - maximize deception. Otherwise, fine, tough luck.

Definately not open shoving an m of 8 here anytime really. Make it your standard 2.5-4x. As far as getting beat there's nothing else you can do aside from getting it in good and praying.

Don't think results. Think optimal strategy.

definetely do not push, but I hate your opening raise, something more standard like 25-35k is much better imo

id probably raise to 40k and prepare to get it all in on almost all flops. dont be results oriented.

wow, i'm shocked that your HUGE bet got called by someone with such a weak hand... there is no way that you don't want action here with KK. i mean, i raise to 25-35k preflop here. odds are you dont get called at all and you win the pot. even if you get called, odds are an ace is not coming. no way you don't get all the money in here with KK.
