i like how this thread has nothing to do with what the OP asked, which is, why mention that he's a black guy in the first place? nobody has given any real argument to that effect, instead it turned into this cluster [censored] with everyone crying "PC reverse racism"

[/ QUOTE ]

dont forget that i called someone gay

are you saying that Im racist normally NT?

[/ QUOTE ]

no, just that we don't tend to look at things the same way all the time... usually you are not a guy who is interested in the subtext of a passing detail like that. i would have expected you to be like, 'stop being so sensitive, hippy'

EDIT: also,

[ QUOTE ]

white people love to masturbate to how non-racist they are and how racist everyone else is.

I have a friend who is a dj and had to work on Thanksgiving. His family is all out of town and he took the whole day so people could spend the holiday with their families since he doesn't have one here. I asked him if he wanted me to bring him dinner, he said he would appreciate it. I went to my parents house and told them I had a friend working all day. I asked if my mom could make a plate to take to him. She did, and I brought it.

He asked me if I had dinner at my house, I said no, my mom made it. Then he asked, "did you tell her I was black?". I was confused. I said no, I didn't think to mention it. He said, why, cause you don't want your parents to know? Would they have not sent me food if I was? Again, still confused, I told him of course they would (true). He asked why I wouldn't tell them. I answered, I don't announce my friends race/religion etc. when I talk to my parents. Why would I? This is my German friend, this is my Protestant coworker, etc. I didn't get why he was offended I didn't tell them, but he understood why once I put it the way I did. Just thought I would share.

Ok, I think the way that he said it wasn't necessary. I was thinking about normal speech and what you wrote. Do you think that if instead he said,"This native guy came in drunk...." casually instead of,"blah blah blah. He was native" it would have made a difference?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that would have made a slight difference and of course would have to come from a different person. The girl at work was blatantly racist, but I respect her for not trying to hide it. Weird I know lol
