i love when people here make fun of hellmuth. like most of the people here are superior to him. give me a break although he is a jerk his ability is at the top. yes he can be run over at times but he doesnt care he knows when to pounce on players or call them down with nothing. his call down of hoyt corkins w i think q high was tremendous. that said, to say open limping is bad good or otherwise is foolish. any style if played well and adapted to SITUATIONS can be a winning style. never open limping can be successful limping alot can work too. in boxing you can be a jabber a counter-puncher an inside fighter etc . no style is better than the other its the quality at which that style is utilized that counts.

when did i or anyone in this thread make fun of helmuth?

I am just saying that with 20-35xBB you have a relatively good situation to limp. Certainly a lot of bad players limp, but so do strong ones with good reading skills.

Since the point of limping with 20-35xBB is you have an easy limpreraise allin, I don't see it as a weak play. I am not saying that you should usually limpreraise when you limp.

Also, there are advantages to staying in the pot cheaply and seeing what the action is from early position. If you raise, you are likely to be reraised or called OOP.

Good post, betgo.

I've wanted to post a thread asking about how to the limpreraise effectively for a couple of days now.

whatevvvv. This is really kinda pointless cause neither of us are gonna budge on our stances. openlimping in my opinion is just such a weak play. In my opinion, with a few exceptions of course, the players who open limp often are generally the weakest players at the table.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can't never do something. It's weak if you don't follow it up properly, sure, but it's a good way, especially if the table is very preflop passive to flop a giant hand and break people.

when you said you want him at your table. People assume that you are trying to make money when you play poker and when you say you want people at your table it is because you think they suck. Therefore, you think Hellmuth sucks and you can take his money.
