i cant just end the staking deal whenever i want. if i had half a brain we would both be up at least 3k on the stake.

there isnt often a downside i dont think if the player you're stkaing is good at poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

the big downside is if the person gets in such a big hole that hes on permatilt, or doesnt even care because its going to be forever before he gets even. in the worst cases, i'd imagine people try to lose so the staker cuts them off

Dont stake people, 80%+ people wanting stakes are degenerates that are to stupid to understand bankroll management. If you are so good then why do you need a stake?

k flame away, but every staking agreement for me has been a nightmare.

[/ QUOTE ]

so true

i'd rather invest my money than play lotto with some degenerate gambler with spending problems

how hard is it to have a BR of $10k?

I mean if you dont have that kind of money you should have a job.

These threads are always good for a laugh anyway.

i was staked in 04 and i am the anti-degen who has seldom played a game without 100+ buyins liquid. sometimes things happen in life you dont expect and you need to use up a lot of your bankroll. i think having 100k stuck in neteller would qualify

yea, but i'm asking is are there lots of people that are staked and are winning their backers money?

because from what it sounds like from reading posts, there are lots of things that can and do go wrong.

so are they just the small sample that go wrong and public, or is this pretty common?

Nobody says anything when things go well.

You just gotta make sure you pick a good horse.

As for other reasons why good players need staking: Josh hit the nail on the head.

Not to mention that some degenerates do have a good sense of honor.
