Nope, not in the least..Congress can enact and the President can sign (and therefore enact into law) any bill they like, and specify a period for regulations pursuant to such an Act as they might like.

But the unelected, unaccountable government bureaucrats who draft those regulations are part of a permanent government, which tends to remain in power regardless of which political party is in power at any given time. Believe me, the last day of that 270 day period about which so many were concerned is just one more "X" through the calendar, as the bureaucrats count the number of days they have until they retire. There have been laws passed ten, twenty, or more years ago, which still don't have regulations passed to clarify how those laws are to be enforced.

Truthfully, I think the DOJ prefers not having regulations in place--a sane set of regulations (if those discharged with drafting such regs had actually bothered to study the issues they were about to regulate) could possibly have hamstrung the DOJ from making their big splash, with the Neteller and sports bookmakers arrests. Not likely, but possible.

Truthfully, I'll be surprised if we see any regulations appear at any point in the near future. We'll see them when the online sites affiliate with the B&M casinos, and get the okey-dokey from the government to do so..Naturally, this will mean paying two rakes, one to the online site, and the other to the goverment, thus making it much more difficult to make a living at online poker.

exactly.. which is another reason why they don't want to clarify the wire act, and have not gone after "poker" under it. If it ends up in court it imo, won't hold up.

Don't know anything about next Thursday, but I do know that betting $777 on the Number 7 at 7:07 PM on 7/7/07 seemed like a good idea at the time.

Well, no wonder. 7:07 pm is 19:07 army time. You were 12 hours late. Dumb***

The draft regulations were completed by Treasury and submitted to OMB for required review on June 18. I would expect that we will see the proposed rules published for comment today per the statutory requirement in UIGEA. There will be a comment period, additional time for final rules to be developed incorporating (or not) any input received during the comment period and the final rules will be issued. In all likelihood there will be an additional period set during which covered entities will have time to get into compliance with the regulations.

Even I think you are getting to be a huge spamtard. Someone not bust into the ironic nature of this sentence.

The OP asked about concern about July 10. I responded that business would continue as usual at Truepoker, indicating a lack of concern. I did not think that was spam, unless you think any reference by a site to a site is somehow spam.

I appreciate your restraint about the potential irony, given our relative size among the shrinking number of US facing rooms, and am somewhat surprised there was no more direct comments. However, we are here and take US players' play and have been in busness for over 6 years.
