Standard or teh suck?
Figured I would donk my way to Supernova on Stars playing Omaha (I made it but why? lol) didn't turn out so well but I didn't think I played THAT bad. Any advice appreciated, even if it's just never to play again. I'd imagine folding a little more couldn't hurt.

Re: Standard or teh suck?
Supernova is worth $80 each week in freeroll EV. So 6 months comes to $2080. If you add in all the FPPs you've made getting to Supernova you're definitely +EV for the rest of the year.
You've probably earned around $500 in FPPs getting there. Good luck for the rest of the year. |

Re: Standard or teh suck?
Yeah, that was pretty much what I was thinking regarding going after Supernova. Unfortunately I didn't quite expect to lose this much, my strategy was pretty much peddling the nuts, but I think tilt took over at some point. Didn't help that I tried to play more than 1/2 of the hands dealt to me while 12-tabling. Thanks for the response and good luck to you too.

Re: Standard or teh suck?
Try taking your VPIP down to 30% or less and see what happens. Call less and raise more pre-flop. Increase your flop aggression factor by raising / folding more and calling less. Your game appears to be very loose-passive, which is bad.
12-tabling will obviously make you play like crap. Reduce it to 2 or 3 tables. Finally, you could try watching some of the PLO videos on one of the various educational poker sites. |

Re: Standard or teh suck?
You played nearly 70% of your hands from the SB, yikes. Just fold a bit more preflop and be a bit more aggro.
How did you make supernova in 33k hands? This was just to finish off the run at supernova that you started in holdem or sngs or something? |

Re: Standard or teh suck?
Those rake numbers are bonkers. I didn't really notice how big of a deal rake was until I played some HU. If it was a tough match and not a lot of swings then with starting stacks of $100 we'd be down to $95 a piece or $90 a piece so fast.
Also, you're not nut peddling with 50% vpip (you can but you'll get [censored] results like this) and you also need to just tighten up your game a little more. Omaha is a game that can bleed you quickly if you do things like always complete in the sb and call lots of raises OOP. |

Re: Standard or teh suck?
Wow, so you're winning at 0.10/0.25 without rake and losing 10.58 BB/100 with it? I had no idea rake was that bad at low stakes in PLO.
Anyway, there are basically two ways to win in PLO: 1. Nut-peddle. This works best at a FR table and requires tight play preflop since you'll be folding your weak hands so often postflop. If you're going to do this, you probably need to keep your VPIP under 40 and you really shouldn't be playing 6-max at all. 2. Play good aggressive poker. In order to do this, you're going to have to take a lot more pots down, raise more preflop, C-bet a lot HU, C-bet on dry boards 3-handed, etc., etc. If you're going to do this, your flop aggression factor, turn aggression factor, and Won$WSF all need to go way up. Actually, your flop aggression factor's so low that it looks like you're not even raising your big draws like 17-card wraps on dry boards, NFD+OESD, etc., etc. This is a huge mistake regardless. Fear of putting your money in at 55% + FE is going to cost you a ton in the long run. For reference, my flop aggression factor is over 4 and my turn aggression factor is over 3. Also, your river aggression factor should never be higher than your flop and turn aggression in any HE/Omaha variant. So definitely tighten up some to start. I'm not even trying to nut-peddle, I play a decent amount of HU, and my VPIP's still significantly lower than yours. Then, focus on playing much more aggressive on the early streets. Try to take a lot of hands down, raise if you're close to a flip, and don't be afraid to put some money in. |
