Since PLO has (arguably) the largest variance of any game....
How many buy-ins do you make sure to have (online) before moving up? |

Re: Since PLO has (arguably) the largest variance of any game....
This depends on winrate and experience. Most ppl will say 20-40 buyins at higher level. It depends on whether you move down when you lose.

Re: Since PLO has (arguably) the largest variance of any game....
I consider myself a solid PLO player, definitely not the best and definitely not the worst... probably 5 BB/hr at best. If I were to start grinding full-ring PLO100 (4 tables at a time), would you say a $4,000 roll is plenty? Keep in mind that this would be a LONG term run. Move down if I have 30 buy-ins or less and move up when I have 40 buy-ins for the next level? |

Re: Since PLO has (arguably) the largest variance of any game....
You don't need to move down at 30. Waiting until 20 is fine as you'll still have 40 for the lower level. You could actually probably get by with a little less stringent BR requirements to start, but it's good to build good habits. The loss from being a nit that takes a couple weeks longer to move up than he needs to is <<<<<<<< than the loss from being a degenerate who constantly takes shots and busts his BR when he goes on tilt.

Re: Since PLO has (arguably) the largest variance of any game....
Take my advice. Deposit $250. Run hot at .5/1 HU. Build BR up to $800 in about two hours. Shortstack 2/4 to build BR up to $1200. By in short at 5/10 and lose $400. Tilt off $200 at 2/4. Lose $400 playing 1/2 HU while trying to win every pot. Put last $400 on 5/10 table. Double up. Shorstack 2/4 to buiild BR to $1200. Sleep.
That was my weekend. |
