Motor City casino Trip Report/ Bad Beat 7 7 7

Made 2 trips this weekend to Motorcity. I guess the room was just moved and is now smaller?? They were running $50-$200 1 2 blind no limit $200-500 2 5 blind and 300min no max and Omaha 5-10FK & 10-20 limit. The room is nice, clean, non smoking, the have a pop machine and comp sandwiches in a cooler. (never seen that before)

This really seems to be the place to play no-limit in Detroit as 90% of the tables ran a no limit game and the lists were 40 deep. They let you call in but only give you an hour to check in. There is suppose to be some kind of internet based list on the way, maybe someone can elaborate. I called in at 7:15, got there at 7:45 and got a seat at 9:25.(meh) I would suggest calling at least 55 minutes in advance.

First night played 10-20 Limit. The Friday night crowd was in a much better mood than the Saturday afternoon crowd. 5-6 player to a flop 3 callers on the turn. Better than average game, crappy rake ($6 +$1)

I hit a few flops played all night +25 big bets.

Decide to make a trip back on Saturday. Called in at 4:15 got there at 5:00 sat down at 5:30. I was hoping to play the 15-30 Omaha high/Hold’em round by round. I guess it only ran for 20 minutes then broke. Oh well

First table was 50-200 1 2 blind raked game. I really want the 10-20 limit. I don’t really like to play NL in a casino. I am not sure why it just does not seem to suit me. I sit down in the 2 seat with $200. Seat 3 had $1800 seat 4 had $1900. Keep in mind this is a $200 max buy-in 1 2 blind game. I figure what the hell I have the worst seat in the card room, short stacked with 2 monster stack on my left. It will cost me $3 an orbit to have a place to sit while I wait for the 10-20 and if I get a hand maybe I can double up.

4 orbits go by and I never get past the flop. I never get a hand never even make a pair. I get a call for 5-10 Omaha full kill. INSTA-MOVE!

I play a lot of Omaha in our home game but to say I am any good at it is a stretch. Action was pretty good 9 to the flop 5 to the turn 3 to the river some pots were over 250 bux. Nit in the seven seat gets dealt his hand and he leaves his cards out on the action line. A few people muck and the dealer end up scooping up one of his cards. He calls a preflop raise and the realizes he only has 3 cards. Floor gets called and declare his hand dead no refund. Guy unleashes his f bomb tirade picks up his $7 and home. Its his fault for not protecting his hand and he was a nit anyway.

Down a few bux I get called for the 10-20 there are 20 on the list behind me and decent sized stacks in play so I move over there. Sit down in the big blind, get dealt 94off and get a free look at a flop of A K Q. check bet I fold. Guy to my right says “man you have not won a hand at this table all night-What do you think your doing wrong?” I thought that was a funny thing to say to a guy that has only played 1 hand.

BRAG TIME

I get dealt some garbage I fold, button raises big blind 3 bets board comes A A T 5 and river is an Ace. And it think to myself this has to be it. Big ace vs. big pocket pair. Bet and call button tables AQ an BB stands up and says we got it boys, and tables JJ. Table erupts High fives hugs and kisses.

The jackpot was $41,000 and change and paid out 16K 8K and 2.45K table share. The 3 seat did not receive a hand because he was out smoking. He got nothing. I tried to rally the table to have everyone ship him $50 but only one other person besides me did it. Karma play.

Never took down a bad beat. Never has a $1000 chip. Very cool.

That sux about the jackpot. When we had a much smaller one a Greektown, everyone naturally agreed to chip in for the guy who was out. I always gleefully told my friend that people in Detroit are just nicer.

I guess now I have to specify people in Greektown.
