Six was so awesome.

I truly don't understand why there is so much hate for ROTJ. Is it simply because of the Ewoks? It's a kids' movie, for cripes' sake!

ROTJ has (*** SPOILER ALERT***:

Luke as total badass Jedi
Coked-up Carrie Fisher in skimpy bikini
Awesome rescue of Han/murder of Jabba
Confirmation of the biggest surprise shock twist in movie history from a dying Yoda
Revelation of another huge surprise (Luke and Leia are twins)
Light cycle chase and battle on Endor, where Luke deflects laser blasts and hacks off the light cycle's stabilizer, which is the coolest thing he does in the trilogy
C-3PO telling the story of the adventure in Ewokese
"I don't know... fly casual."
"It's a trap!"
Semi-botched sabotage of energy field
climactic battle between Luke and Vader, especially Luke's rage after Vader mentions "sister" (one of the greatest scenes in movie history)
Vader's redemption

I mean, come ON. Incredible movie.

Now Episode ONE, that sucked.

For someone who's never seen an episode should Star Wars be watched in chronological order or in 4,5,6,1,2,3?

[/ QUOTE ]

4,5,6,1,2,3, and if you have time, throw in the Clone Wars discs between 2 and 3.

Worth putting up with for the lightsaber fight with Darth Maul. Best duel of all six and it isn't close.

I don't think I'll ever get used to it being possible for a 20 year old movie to have a spoiler, but the nature of this thread has it make sense.

But yeah, it's mainly the Ewok thing. It's the first time we really noticed that he was modifying what he had based solely on target audience, and that those changes were not for the best. The Ewoks were, in some ways, a prelude to what he'd do in the "Special Editions" and then the havoc that he'd wreak with episodes 1,2 and 3.

Your argument is well supported, though, in that RotJ had a lot of really cool stuff in it.

return of the jedi is actually quite good, but I rate A New Hope quite a bit more than the empire strikes back which I think tends to go against the grain.

456123 then watch 5 again and think about how much better the whole series would have been if Lucas let other people write the scripts for 6123
