Re: Commercials with non-existent target demographics
They're obviously not just targeting 30-something basketball players. They're targeting active 30-something males. The particulars are not really the point. I'm sure if the product and campaign is successful, you'll see ads featuring softball-guy, hiking-guy, rock climbing-guy and fishing-guy.

Re: Commercials with non-existent target demographics
OP: The fact that you remember the product and brand name demonstrates that the commercial has achieved its main purpose: making you aware of their product.
Also, the weekly basketball game that I play in regularly includes at least two asians, an indian guy, a pacific islander and a handful of whiteys. Sometimes these two black dudes come, too, but strangely they're not that good. |

Re: Commercials with non-existent target demographics
OP, all this post shows is that you are trapped between your arrogance and your naivety.
You have a false confidence in your worldliness now that you're in your mid 20s. When something doesn't make sense to you, you declare it ridiculous. Sometime in the next 10 years, unless you're a complete douche bag, you will realize the more you learn about something, the more there is to learn. Then you'll stop making senseless, self-absorbed posts like this. |

Also, I'm fairly active, I mean I ski, rock climb, ski, and smoke a lot of pot. And I am like actively turned off by these commercials. They make me insecure about my un-leet basketball skills. |

Re: Commercials with non-existent target demographics
Noze,
hey smoking involves engineering, construction (designing and building new bongs obv) and for me generally some activity, as I hike, rock climb and ski stoned a lot, which is actually pretty awesome. I also ran out of activities pretty quickly there haha I was like uhhh... skiing... rock climbing... ummm... what am I doing now? |
