Gold Strike 1/2 is not capped (at least not yet). You can still find some great, deep games there.

sounds great and all but where do u see yourself in 10/5/1 year(s)? is this poker thing a longterm career choice? if it is a longterm career choice and you plan on bettering your quality of life (bigger house, nicer car, more vacations, etc) 200NL isnt the answer.

if you're doing this to make some quick cash then good luck to you, sir.

I'm giving myself a year playing 1/2. If I beat it consistently, I'll then make the jump to 500nl. If I keep up my average (gotta maintain a positive outlook) I will have made 62K playing 1/2NL!! Sounds far fetched, but hey it could happen!!

Congrats so far. Im happy youre doing well and hope it continues but let me say this....

$40 / hr is 100% absolutley NOT sustainable long term at live 1/2 NL. No way..no how. Not gonna happen.

$25 / hr is about the max anyone can sustain. It doesnt matter of you beleive me now, you will soon.

Now $25 / hr is still very good so when your win rate drops down, dont get discouraged. At some point you'll be ready to move to $2/$5 NL where $35-$50 /hr IS sustainable.

Also, avoiding playing on weekends is your biggest mistake. I have no idea why you dont want to play on weekends. If its because you want to spend time with the girlfriend, then thats cool, but if its for any poker related reason, then its a big mistake. Table selection is HUGE and weekends and late evenings is where the money is made.

Congrats & Good Luck.

FWIW:
1.) Loss limit too low -- you forego too many +EV opportunities. If you are going to have one, try something more like 3 FULL Buy-ins (i.e. $900 in your case.)

2.) Schedule is almost 180 degrees upside down -- best fishin' is nights & weekends.

I wasn't looking for much advice to be honest. I play with casuals and tourists each and every time I play in Atlantic City. I like hanging with the girlfriend and friends on the weekends because thats when they have off from work. I hate crowds and the NYC guidos that litter the joint on the weekends (no offense haha)

I honestly never commit many chips with top pair. I've learned my lesson online doing that sh*t.

I bet this is a leak at 1/2.

Against certain bad players, why not fire 3 streets with AK on a A74 board when you know without a shadow of a doubt they will call you down all the way to the end with ATo?

the 400 dollar limit is a good idea. It's much harder to stay focused and objective after suffering two bad beats live. Online, its no big deal, but i think its harder to swallow at the b/m. Oh and $40/hr is totally doable at 1/2. Good luck, and take a shot or two at 2/5, don't just move into it cold turkey one day.

I don't see why beats should be so much worse live than online.

At first when I played poker and got a bad beat live I would be really mad.

But now after playing hundreds of thousands of hands online, and getting sooooo many bad beats over the years, I am barely phased by a live bad beat.

IMO 2 buyins is way too little, I could see 5 buy ins or something but quitting aftger being down 2 buyins?

So you travel 2 hours to get to the casino and 1st hand you get AA and a guy gets all in PF with 23o and beats you. Then next hand same thing. You just walk away for the day? Weak...

Online the money doesn't seem as real. Also, I find that many players in a casino are extremely annoying. Often, there is the token drunk running his mouth the whole time and there are always a few "know it alls" that make comments like "10-2, thats Doyle's hand."

why does everyone feel the need to critique the way i do things - nothing is set in stone in poker... thats the beauty of it - you can play the way you want, walk away when you want, play anytime you want, crush 1/2 for a living if you want...it just doesn't matter
