I have always heard it was extremely aggressive as well, but have never found it that was myself. I was just there on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. For the most part it was pretty loose, but not particularly aggressive or crazy.

I seem to remember the pink game being much more aggressive in the past, about 4-5 years ago. The game went away for a while, and since it came back it really isn't the same game it used to be. Still very loose, but not as aggressive.

When / for how long did the pink game go away?

[/ QUOTE ]

I guess it never technically went away, but it wasn't being spread as consistently as it is now. It seemed for a while (maybe about 2 years ago), I never saw the pink game going, and it seemed they were trying to get 10/20 going. I actually played 20/40 at the Trop about 2 years ago.....but i haven't seen that since. They also had a 10/20 going along with the 20/40.

i remember the pink game alway started around 12pm. there was a designated pink felt table at the NL section by the escalator. this was a few years ago and they stop spreading for a while until 2 years ago. and i've seen 50-100 at the trop at a request.

What about the arguement for comp points. Wouldnt playing at one specific room consolidate all your time and reward you with better comps rather then splitting your time between two places?

I am asking a serious question, not trying to put down the trop or anything. Why do you guys not play at the Borgata? It seems to me that there are always more people in their room and higher limits plus nicer atmosphere. I mean why do people play at other casinos? The only thing that comes to mind is softer competition, but wouldnt the weaker players float towards the name recognition of the borg?

[/ QUOTE ]

Why do some people go to Burger King and not McDonalds? Maybe they have had a bad experience at Borgata, or are treated better at another casino - maybe they know the floor or brush who can get them higher up the waiting list during peak times, or can add to the actual time they played, increasing comps. Some prefer to play on the boardwalk, where there are 7 poker rooms within walking distance instead of being secluded in the Marina, where you need to drive from one casino to another.

I have been going to Atlantic City regularly now (about once a month) and I have always stayed/played at the boardwalk casinos. Last week, after almost 2 years, I made my first trip to Borgata. The casino was very nice and huge. I got lost a couple of times trying to find a restroom. Although the Borgata poker room is nice and large, I prefer the Showboat poker room. Although it is smaller, I enjoy the "theme" of the room. After playing at Showboat, I can easily walk to Trump Taj Mahal, instead of having to hop in my car and negotiate with city traffic.

[/ QUOTE ]

The showboat really is a nice room, good 1/2 and 2/5 action. If you are a regular there, I'm sure we've played together.

What do you really get for comps in the poker room? You get about $1/hr everywhere, right? I don't think it matters much. I've got a players card for every room, no idea what I have on most of them, but it all spends the same. Comps generally are terrible for poker, that doesn't play into my decision much, if at all.

Comp at the Trop is softer, cozier clubby atmosphere, easy to get to (I schlep on down on the bus, which doesn't stop anywhere near the Borg) right on the Boardwalk, and I like the dealers there. Service at the Borgata is snotty and brisk, the room is WAY too bright - like what am I on stage or something? - and too many pros.

I understood that the Borg is stingier with comps than, say, Harrah's or the Hilton. No?

Borg comps are $1/hour for most games, and $2 for high limit. Everything runs off the card.

Agree about the lighting. And the pros, well that's a fact of life the higher you go.

I just found out that i am 100 FREAKIN points shy of retaining my black card at the borg...can you [censored] believe that. I called and asked for an extension but they are gay, so i guess now I have reason to check out the other casinos. Ill definetley stop by the trop and taj.

Don't know about Harrah's, but Hilton comps $2/hour for 1/2 NL, while Borgata is only $1/hour.

Also, Hilton poker rate is $30/night on weekdays. I believe Borgata is $100/night, but I don't play enough to get it.

Finally, I used to get a bunch of free room offers from the Hilton in the mail (and I only play poker), but I haven't gotten one in a while.
