I'm hopeful that eroding support for the republicans will also carry over to dismantling the online gaming legislation.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why would even the elimination of one party affect a bipartisan act of legislation? You're aware taht when this was voted on in the House, more Dems voted for than against, right?

[/ QUOTE ]

You're right and I understand your point. I also understand the sentiment towards Republicans on this one. In the currently controlled Democratic congress the Frist legislation doesn't see the light of day. Harder to undue something that exists(not saying that's the way it should be) than preventing something from happening in Congress. It's obviously not a high priority item for Democrats.

Current Congress isn't getting anywhere with "mainstream" issues. No reason to think UIGEA will get modified anytime soon. I think the best thing for seeing UIGEA status change is a Democrat winning the presidency in 2008. As I've said before benign neglect is the best chance to see things get better for online poker. My understanding is that we're not likely to see the regulations come out soon and when they do they're not going to be that tough on the banks and such. Put in an adminstration that has a Justice Department that basically assigns a much lower priority to enforcing this law and you might see things improve. Not the best solution for sure but probably the best shot at seeing improvement in the situation IMO.

If Cheney were impeached, the driving force behind the administration would be removed. Several of his Constitution violating initiatives may lose steam and disappear, and other, pragmatic, logical, realistic voices may be able to come to the fore.

What "constitution violating intiatives" do you speak of? What portion(s) of the constituion did they violate? Since the vice-president can't legally effect anything, unless he votes to break a tie in the Senate, are you suggesting that the act of proposing something within the administration can be a "high crime and misdeameanor?"

We have a constitution folks. Deal with it!

Cheney doesn't have any constitutional power or responsibility. How can he be impeached? WHat's the point?

[/ QUOTE ]

If he's impeached, he doesn't become president after we impeach Bush.

First, full disclosure--I am an active member of the Republican Party.

[/ QUOTE ]

How someone can be a human being and an active member of the Republican party is beyond me.

Can we please start banning people who make these kinds of posts?

[/ QUOTE ]
I'll consider it. Seems kind of stupid.

It is not the republican party that is against online gaming, in fact I'd most republicans are either neutral or in favor of online gaming.

[/ QUOTE ]
The party leadership is wholeheartedly against poker in general, not just online (unless a casino or similar group cuts them a check).
[ QUOTE ]
. It was the actions of a few on both sides that caused the conundrum we are in now.

[/ QUOTE ]
What makes you think I like the democrats? They suck just as bad. At least they defend habeus corpus I guess. Can't say the same about the republican president's cabinet.
[ QUOTE ]

Right, you're the republican party cheerleader even through the republican's anti-individual rights campaign and I'M the one burying my head.

That is just rich.
[ QUOTE ]
it just makes you look more foolish to the rest of the world.

[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure no one noticed even if was. They're to busy being blinded by George Bush's foolishness that will be talked about in history books for the next hundred plus years. If he doesn't end civilization before getting out that is.
[ QUOTE ]
I concur on the ban or maybe a custom title "Political Ignoramus" might be better.

[/ QUOTE ]
Ahahaha. The republican cheerleader got his feelings hurt. Turn off fox once in a while and you might not think so.

Unless some developments come to light I think the chances of the House voting to impeach is less than 50% if Pelosi sponsors such an initiative. I'd put the chances of the Senate convicting at 9-1 against at least. Don't see the Senate coming up with 2/3 of it's members voting to convict no-way, no-how. It's not a lack of courage, it's a lack of votes.
