Your reads are not good, yet.

This could even be a bluff

i like the fold. given action, i do not think 3:1 is enough.

edit: early on in a match, i think this is way less likely to be a bluff jim. and given flop check and turn c/c, its obvious whatever made hand he has is contingent on the river A. i doubt he is b3b shoving a crappy aces up on the river when he did not try to build the pot anywhere else. if we are assuming he is competent, he has to realize that we could very well have QT here. assigning him a wide bluffing range or river b3b vbetting range doesnt make too much sense.

so i think its a sick spot, but i also think this is a very good fold.

edit2: he also c/ced turn and potted river and then 3bet. cmon jim..

There is a line in H o H vol 2 that talks about people folding trips in a situation like this. I think he said, "everytime someone tells me about.blah blah..I think to myself...idiot."

Thats just a joke, there. If he's got you beat, so be it. I call

Agreed, but I just don't see why we are ruling out As up.

Getting 3:1 on a call, his range doesn't need to be very wide to make a call correct.

There are 16 combos of QT, so we only need 6 combos of hands we beat to justify a call.

The combos of AJ/A8 alone are enough to make the call better than breakeven, not to mention that his line up to the river is entirely consistent with these hands, while QT is likely to take a different line on the turn.

Granted, this ignores the possibility of a slowplayed 9T, but it also ignores the similarly unlikely possibility of a slowplayed set, or a bluff.
