I know he is a fool, but I think about the first point all the time. The second point I consider some of the time. My hypothesis is that my game would improve dramatically if I considered both points all the time. |

He's just fooling around, but yes, you should think of these questions on every river and on turns. Also throw in, is there value in checking?
This means you've pegged your opponent on a draw/weak hand. The river has brought a board that has not completed any obvious draws and you've pegged your opponent as having a draw. No matter what your hand is, so long as it is medium strength to the nuts, checking is the best play since it's the only way your opponent can win. This assumes reasonable opponents who are not prone to shove missed draws (in which case it is obvious to make a bet on the river that your opponent can shove over and feel they have FE). |
