I thought I was a winner long before I was actually winning

But seriously, its a constant battle. Every day there is something new you can add to your game, while at the same time some leak trying to sneak into your repetoire. You have to be aware and motivated to keep moving forward.

I have always felt like a winning player. I started playing playmoney on Pokerstars about 1.5 years ago, but I rarely played online. I accumulated a couple of millions of playchips all the time and gave them away to friends. Then I decided to sell 2million playchips for 17$ in sept. last year. I never had a loosing month since then. Have gone thru 2NL,5NL,10NL,25NL, and I`m rolled for 100NL yet will probably move up this month.

Don`t get me wrong, I know I`m just a very marginal winner. My winrate at 50NL over the last 3 month has only been 3.6bb/100, but since you asked "When did you think of yourself as a winning player?", I have always felt like one.

I always want to improve, but as far as felling like a winning player, you don`t have to be the best player at the level you play on to feel like one.

I thought I had a good idea about this game, till miss. Variance payed me a visit. Then you start to doubt about every play you make, your opinion gets to result oriented and at the end you think you are the biggest donkey at the tables.
Like Ama said, there is always something new to learn.

That is very true Panic - about doubting every thing you do. Thanks guys - striving for continual improvement is key in my opinion.

I'll read every post and watch every video with complete objectivity because I don't think you can take anything for granted with the game.

Best wishes.

2 million play chips for $17 dollars? That's a steal. That's over 100,000 chips/dollar!
