But when I asked the floor if they'd accept a tip they said it's against the rules. I assume this might be a peculiar east coast thing....

[/ QUOTE ]

What makes it more peculiar is that Foxwoods pools tips, so it's not even as if the floor's going to feel that there's a personal financial incentive to favor you.

I thought I read here once that the floor shares in the tipping pool at FW, but it was a while ago, so I may have it backwards, anyone know or remember?

[/ QUOTE ]

This is accurate. I have tried once, and they encourage you "Just be sure to tip the dealer when you are seated".

The dealers I've spoken with about the topic are generally happy if they see 5%, but generally get closer to 3%. More experienced players generally tip better. They love when the 8/16 hits and feel fear when the 2/4 hits.

This looks about right. And def true about experienced players - the older guys are much more likely to tip well.

A few years ago; i hit a 9k or so bbj on a work trip in Oregon (seven feathers). I was only in town for the day.

I can't remember the exact tips; but i gave the dealer either 100 or 200 (i think 200) and i gave the floorman 100 (he had to fill out a crap load of paper work before i got paid).

when i finally got back to the table after filling out my paper work; a couple locals from the table were "subtly" ripping me...talking about how a standard tip would have been 10%.

i racked up and left and they missed out me GambOOOLing with some of those winnings.

i've never been back since.

i could definitely see tipping more than i did if i was a regular at the room / knew the dealers / etc.

3-5% sounds standard, more if you are a regular or have been doing well recently/etc. and less if it's a HUGE jackpot like 50K or more.

If I win a big jackpot, I guess I would tip about as much as I would if I had won that much in tournament where no money is being withheld for staff.

In MS the casino does not "take" any of the $ but only a portion of it is used for the BB. The rest is used for other "promotions" like high hand of the hour, $ added to tournaments, etc. If there is an appearance the casino is giving something free i the poker room it is really coming out of the BB jackpot rate. And most of those promotions are on weekdays, so weekend players take the hit....

At least that is what I heard at the table and the dealer did not dispute it.
