Read theory of poker. If you're having trouble grasping stuff like reasons to ck vs bet at the river, you probably need some fundamentals.

There are just so many things that take time to sink in ... and are difficult to write about because it so depends on your opponent (yeah .. same old stuff you hear from everyone)
There are good books with advice about the situations you mentioned, but you need a good understanding for the game first ... bill chen MOP .. and slaknskys NLHE theory and app.. are prob the best but not easily put in perspective. every player thinks too much of specific hands and situations and not about the overall picture.... ex... Sure when you flop top set you will often make more money for that hand when you slow play it ... but if you bet it out .. you will make more money in total because they know you are capable of betting the set ... so you can make the same bet even when you dont have it. |
