Anyone ordered from Dell?

I ordered a new laptop a few days ago (June 30th)...They set the estimated ship date for almost a month later (July 25th). Is this standard? What are the odds my order actually takes this long to ship?

I can't believe it would take them almost a month to build/ship a laptop. I customized it, but I still don't understand what could take a month to put together...

They may not have all parts on hand immediately and there may be a week or two back order on hard drives or the video card.

THAT is standard, whether this case is 'standard' or not is up to Dells stock.

Ugh yeah it looks like there is 1 part that won't be in stock for a few weeks. Wasn't sure if they were just setting a long ship date to cover their ass if need be...thanks.

I order from Dell almost weekly. Usually they don't give ship dates that far out, but they are usually about a week longer than it really takes. Laptops seem to ship really fast compared to desktops for some reason. I can usually get a laptop within 3 business days of ordering it with the free shipping option. However, the laptops either come from TN or Austin and being in TX they get here pretty quick.

I did order a desktop from Dell back a couple months ago and it literally took a month to ship. I was very upset but thankfully my customer wasn't in a hurry at all.

Good luck and hopefully it will ship quicker than expected.

I ordered a Dell (the new Inspiron) a few days before you, and they told me the expected SHIP date was the 16th. I think it's pretty standard for a new product.

I'm not. It's an integrated graphic chip, so it is built into the motherboard. They do have motherboards on stock; I think it might be the processor.

talk to their live customer chat, tell them you'd like to know if they can offer you free next day delivery (usually about $120 on a laptop from TN to FL) for your waiting... this will take another couple days off... plus they usually ship it out earlier than they list it
