Re: Good interview with Barry G

I like the not so subtle dig at 2+2 [/ QUOTE ] I agree he is taking a dig at 2+2, but I'm not sure it's entirely fair. I've made thousands of dollars playing poker thanks to 2+2. I'm a recreational player who has consistently beaten 30-60 hold em games the last few years and have ventured up as high as 80-160 with some success. I kind of agree with his point, though, that as the stakes increase, selective deviation from 2+2 strategy (based on the opponents, the nature of the game at a particular time, etc.) can be more profitable than strictly sticking to what S&M advocate. I have no doubt, however, that sticking to basic S&M strategy will consistently beat most 30-60 hold em games. Having said all that, Barry G beats the 4K-8K game at the Bellagio, so I suppose that entitles him to say whatever the hell he wants about other writers. Not many players have credentials that compare favorably with his when it comes to poker. |

Re: Good interview with Barry G
Interesting point about Barry's interview is that he makes it sound like his book is a "How To" book. Barry's book is more a life lessons book as compared to how to play poker. I would love it if he wrote a book on Poker Theory.

[/ QUOTE ] The levels that Barry plays vs the levels that most poker players play are completely and entirely different. Certainly many of the concepts, ideas and strategies are the same, but the game is at a completely different level. So, while the advice might be "wrong" to Barry, it certainly may be the right advice depending on the level that is being played. |
