IMPORTANT: Please sign the Anti-UIGEA petition!!!
Casino Gambling Web is sending representatives to Washington this month. They'll be taking, among other things, online signatures to repeal UIGEA. Please take a moment RIGHT NOW to fill it out, at www.thepetitionsite.com/petition/306149419 , and don't forget to have your spouse sign it as well (once you sign, you'll have to wait ten minutes or so before you can log back on for others in your household to sign).
Info is at http://www.prnewsnow.com/P.......20D.C.. Focus on the Family is very worried about this, so you know it's good for us. Their statement is at www.citizenlink.org/FOSI/gambling/cog/A000004244.cfm . This is a x-post from Legislation. The parent thread is at Casino Gambling Web Representatives Headed to Washington!. Please keep all discussion there. However, I would appreciate a bump or a sticky for this important effort. Thanks. |

Re: IMPORTANT: Please sign the Anti-UIGEA petition!!!
Inernet petitions are dumb and almost always ignored. If you really want your dissent/opinion to at least be counted, write a letter.

Re: IMPORTANT: Please sign the Anti-UIGEA petition!!!
It's too bad they chose such a poor online petition site for this. I would gladly sign but have no desire to give up the level of privacy and information they require. There are plenty of online petition sites that let you sign a petition without having to sacrifice your privacy to do so.

Please see my Fight for Online Gaming!!. Thanks for encouraging everyone to write. This petition is for real; it's being hand delivered to Congress, and Focus on the Family is against it (as noted in my OP). So, please sign it. Thanks. |

mozilla != internet explorer [/ QUOTE ] I'm using Opera. I think it's just a cookie that wasn't being read, as it's disabled with the time stamp of my original signature again. Anyway, thanks for participating. Looks like we have FoF on the defensive. |

Not sure I'd have used my 17th post here to discourage others from participating, but that's certainly your right as well. Feel free to not participate. Not sure I'd have used my 17th post here to discourage others to not participate, but that's certainly your right as well. [/ QUOTE ] 1) I'm not enouraging anyone not to participate. Just stating why I'm not and that I'd actually like to. I'm simply disappointed in the choice of petition sites. I've signed other petitions online that did not require the type of private information that this one does. However, I assume others are more than capable of drawing their own conclusions on what is acceptable to them. 2) Since you chose to try to address the concerns I might have with that site I feel it's worth noting that you haven't addressed any of them. My concerns have more to do with the fact that you have to create an account there, with unnecessary personal information, in order to be able to participate. And I read through their privacy policy which is pretty pathetic as well. If it was just a cookie issue I'd have signed the petition. 3)I didn't have a choice as to what post # I'd be using to reply in this thread. If possible, can a moderator change the post number I used to something like 300. Apparently ones opinions aren't considered valid at the 17 post level, whether one spends a bunch of time here or not. I apologize for not meeting the minimum criteria required to posess or express an opinion. Everyone besides me, sign the petition!!! And visit the legislation forum for the weekly action items!! And write your congresspeople (as I have repeatedly) See, Engineer man, I'm helping |

Re: IMPORTANT: Please sign the Anti-UIGEA petition!!!
Absolutely, if we were able to form a 527, and if people like you want to get that involved, we will be able to do things like this on our own site. So, if you want to improve our ability to operate, it takes steps along the way, and the support of many. I certainly don't begrudge you the chance to refuse in whatever way you wish, just be aware that it is just that the people who decide not to participate for some reason are always more vocal than those that do and this can be a drain for more active members. Constructive critism is always welcome. And I am happy you have an opinion and are posting regardless of your totals, we will need everyone.
