In college we made "wine" in 5 gallon buckets using grape juice and yeast. (May have been a few other things in there.) The buckets were hooked up via rubber tubing to two liter soda bottles half full of water to allow gas release as fermentation occured. We let them sit and ferment for about two weeks. The red grape juice turned out alright, the white grape juice bucket was DISGUSTING. I cannot say what the actual alcohol content was. Looking back on it I wish we had taken the time to figure that out.

Check out one of the forums at www.brewboard.com and search for info there. OP, Search Modern Drunkard Magazine's archives for a pretty interesting and funny article on prison hooch. Even has a recipe, if I remember right.
