A few thoughts. First, where is McCain? I know he is in free fall, but he isn't even listed in this poll. The fact that Thompson is in first without declaring yet shows the weakness of the field. Guiliani's poor showing here is very surprising. California strikes me as the type of state that his style of Republicanism would generally go over well.

Well I think you can understand McCains lack of support because all the "anti-torture" vote goes to Ron Paul ^_^

Just about every numer in that poll raises some questions. And Ron Paul @ 12% make me giggle like a schoolgirl.

the thing is with results so different than my perception of where the numbers are. whats up with this poll? Anyone know the questions? Is it flawed in some way?

There is a huge difference between a straw poll and an actual "scientific" poll. A straw poll is basically a political rally and is usually won by whoever can muster the most volunteers to the place. They are often "bought" by one candidate busing in a bunch of supporters. Typically, there are a bunch of speeches and food booths and other amusements, and at somepoint everyone is asked to submit a ballot.

McCain probably got no support because he chose not to organize a presence at the convention. The candidates who actually did speak at the convention (Paul and Hunter) unsurprisingly did much better than those who didn't.

Agree, but still crazy that McCain didn't even get 1%.

yeah that struck me as odd that he wasnt listed at all. I was reading the CRA site and they are strongly against the imigration bill so im guessing that is the Mcain problem for them.
