Default Dennis Eckersley

I just looked at this stats page:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/bas...206/index.html

It reports that Eck has 390 saves in 390 save opportunities. This is impossible right? What gives?

When John Smoltz won his 200th game, they made a huge deal about how he had the 200 wins to go along with 150 saves. Eck has 200 wins with 400 saves. How amazing is this?

They're just counting stats.

Wow, he totally shattered Gagne's record for consecutive saves and nobody even seemed to notice!!!

Wondering if they simply didn't keep stats for blown-saves/save-opportunities then so that's why the stats are messed up.

Looking up Eric Gagne on that site I see that they do correctly list him as having fewer SV than SVO.
But looking up an earlier era reliever like Rollie Fingers and he also is listed as having gone perfecto in his career (341 for 341).
Same goes for Goose Gossage who is listed as 310-for-310.

Obviously those older stats are incorrect and if they aren't going to be listed correctly then they should put a big X in that stat column or something.

Haha, no Eck has 197 wins. The perfect illustration for why arbitrary cutoffs (especially in combination with on another) are stupid. But as long as the casual fans keep eating them up...

Yeah, but the SAT board would probably hire Taraz first based on his efforts.
