villain is 38/26 in 100 hands. we haven't actually tangled much at all in the ~20 minutes we've played together, which is odd b/c i'm running at around 24/19. so i was looking for a spot to 3bet.

I like the flop check.

I'm struggling to put villain on a hand here, so I probably call.

A flop bet seems pretty standard here, I'm curious as to why you checked. Board is obviously way too draw heavy to call the river bet, although it feels like he's slow playing a set.

checkraise really makes no sense here. it looks on the turn like you've got some sort of QQ type hand or just some airball like AQ so he has no reason to think you will bet the river for him. If he has a big hand it seems he should take the initiative somewhere to build the pot and force you to make a decision. If he's a tough player I could see him calling the turn with some 88 hand thinking it was good and then turning it into a bluff when you make an apparent thin valuebet on the river (and I guess also thinking that sometimes he's bluffing with the best hand, but not often enough to call). The problem with all of this though is that most players aren't willing to risk so much on a stone bluff.

So I guess in the end what it comes down to for me is that his line looks like a bluff but in reality I think you see a misplayed set here more often than that.

It's hearts or you're crushed. I fold unless I've seen some history of odd bluffs, just because the big river c/r bluff is so rare.
