NL 25 River Decision with 99
MP is 43/22/0.90 here, what does everyone else do on this river? Villain has kind of crazy PF stats but seems somewhat rational postflop. The flop comes with no draws so I am thinking I'm probably WA/WB here. I check behind on turn because it seems only worse hands fold, and I don't like the K much. I am prepared to call a smallish river bet, but the bet size is not good. I think sometimes villain will have a smaller PP but others he'll have a Q, K, TT or JJ. How often am I good here? Call or fold?
Also, sometimes I will 3-bet this PF, but with the extra player in there I decide against it. Re: NL 25 River Decision with 99
I'd pop it to $3.50 or $4.00 preflop. We're in position, with a solid hand, versus an aggressive player.
As played, I think I would just check/call the flop since it's so dry. And when the second overcard comes on the turn, I'm looking to check through again. If we get to the river without any action, then I'll call a reasonable bet here. |

Re: NL 25 River Decision with 99
I think we should 2nd barrel the turn rather than check behind. If villain check-raises or calls and leads the river we can safely fold, if he checks we can check behind. We then pay the same for showdown but avoid a tough decision and give villain an extra oppotunity to fold.
Preflop is a 3bet both for isolation and hand definition. As played I call this because we basically encourage a small pp to bet the river by checking behind. |
