One thing I'd like to point out here is Dunn's Ks are off the charts this year. He's whiffing about 30.6% of the time, whereas last year was his previous career high at 28.4%. His carrer rate was 26.7% coming into the year, and he had been fairly consistent around 25% until last year. On top of that, his unintentional walk rate is down to 11.6% from a career norm of 14.6%. He had been fairly consistent in that category until this season. If he were to mantain his BABIP and HR/FB%, his line would look something like .220/.310/.485. The Ks are starting to hurt Adam Dunn.

Yeah, there is a limit to the number of strikeouts someone can have and still be productive, because you have to maintain such a high BABIP when you start getting in the upper limits.

Are strikeouts really that bad for power hitters?

I don't know, but during the Reds game tonight they pointed out that Pujols had 50 SOs to go with his 49 HRs last season. Howard getting the MVP was such a joke.

It was a joke, but his strikeout total is meaningless.

If Howard's MVP was a joke, what does that make Morneau's?

strikeouts are weird because you can't look at them retrospectively and say 'whoa that guy sucked', but you can use them as a predictor that a guy may suck in the future. howard fooled everyone last year, but he's still a ridic good player whom any team would love to have except for that team in missouri.
