I tried to do a noon deepstack a couple days ago and was rebuffed. I got there about 11:45 and they were calling out "alternates 1 through 20, please come up to the podium and pay your entrance fee--we have seats for you". So I knew it was gonna be bad. Then I find out there are over 200 alternates already signed up. Yeah... seeya!
No idea what the evening events are going to be like after the deepstack ends. But if you're gonna play during the WSOP frenzy, it might be worth checking with V to see what the last couple evening tourneys were like. NORMALLY you can show up 15 minutes late and get right in. But the last weeks have not been normal. |

Jeez, thay have seated 500 players I thought. I never saw alternates when I was there. Does that mean 700 wanted to play?
It looks like the Deepstack was so successful, they are continuing it with the CEO Poker Tour with higher buy-ins. I hope they don't turn themselves into the Bellagio and end up pricing themselves out of my price range. |

The 8 pm tourneys usually start with 8 tables. Depending on table and dealer availability; due to the noon deepstack event and cash games; there are sometimes a few tables added just prior to the 8 pm start. Normally 20 to 35 alternates are seated during the first 3 levels (with full chip stacks). Last night total entrants were 141. Sunday night had 151 runners. Expect between 100 and 150 for the next couple weeks. First place paying 5-7k.
I'd get there by 7:30 at the latest to avoid being an alternate. Good luck, and give me a shout out.... |

I did the same thing last Thursday and found a list of 150 alts or so with myself being #134. I left. Show up the night before and sign up - no problem that way.
I think they're generally getting the thing full @ 480 or 500 people and having long alt lists too. There was an article in some publication recently (maybe Poker News) about how the V deep stack tourney series is #2 behind the WSOP. They're having better turnout # of players-wise than the Bellagio Cup III. |

[/ QUOTE ] The 330's and 540's have been sold out by 9am and 10am many times over the course of the series with tons of alternates on the list. That is why they call out 20 at a time because not all of them will show up. |
