Re: TomG\'s Robot Professional MLB Betting
Well, I ran the numbers for the rest of the games today.
They will be listed as follows: Pick : BetEd Line : My 20c Line: My 10c Line: "Value" For value, I took the BetEd line and turned it back into a winning percentage and compared it to my system winning percentage. The different between the two is the value. Not sure if "value" has any value yet though. Haha. Dodgers : +132 : +131 : +131 : 0.2% Phillies : -157 : -171 : -161 : 2.4% Orioles : +160 : +128 : +128 : 5.4% Cardinals : +168 : +123 : +123 : 7.5% Devil Rays : -140 : -217 : -207 : 11.8% Astros : -170 : -191 : -181 : 3.1% |

Re: TomG\'s Robot Professional MLB Betting
OK, I have a bit of an Excel question and I'm hoping it is ok to ask it here.
Basically, what I am trying to do is run a VLOOKUP to another sheet that has bullpen data on it. My problem is I don't know how to tell it which sheet. Example: All of a single days games are listed on one sheet. The first column will list the teams name that is playing. I have another sheet that has the same name as the sheet name. Is it possible to have my VLOOKUP function look at the name on the first sheet and then take me to the corresponding sheet. I tried just entering the cell coordinates in the function but it wasn't allowing it. If you guys don't know what I mean, I'll try to elaborate further. |

Re: TomG\'s Robot Professional MLB Betting
Easiest way is to name a range... For example on sheet2 you define the range of A15 as "data." Then when you try to use a vlookup on another sheet you can refer it to the range "data." For example...
=vlookup(A1, data, 2, false) and it will lookup the value in cell A1 on sheet1 and return the 2nd column of the corresponding ranged data from sheet2. I hope that helps. |

Re: TomG\'s Robot Professional MLB Betting
Ok, I understand what you mean, but here's another question. I defined my range as "royals"
Where you have the word data in your vlookup formula, i want that to correspond to the cell with the word "royals". That way once I type in Royal at the beginning of the line, it instantly looks up the royals bullpen stats on the royals sheet. |

Sorry, I never even saw your post there. Just got home from work. Anyway, they are two worksheets in one excel file.

[/ QUOTE ] OK, then a VLOOKUP formula would look something like =VLOOKUP(cell reference to the text you want to find (where the team name is located in the left part of the row), worksheetname![cell reference to the full set of data, like A150], column number of the data you want pulled back from the set of data) does that help? |

Re: TomG\'s Robot Professional MLB Betting
Ummm, not really. I'm not articulating myself clearly here, but I'm not really sure how. I basically need the first two parts of the vlookup formula to be the same.
=vlookup(b2,*b2!A1:b2,column number) thats basically what im trying to do. is that any clearer? |
