Another thought here. An even #'d raise like 1600 looks a little more threatening than 1780 at first glance, so this can also be used against multi-tablers who may just glance, see a 4BB raise on the bubble and lay down. Just a thought, because one time I got caught on the reverse of this. A guy raised 823 (blinds were 200) and I called, thinking I was up against a desperation shove. Instead I was against the other big stack and I had trash. Had to lay down to the flop bet. All I did was look at the bet and assumed it was a shove.
