What defensive center can we get though? I'm praying for Perkins to show huge improvement, but really we're just going to get dominated by good perimeter players.

Nice pick by Chicago with Noah. He doesn't need to score on that team and they could definitely use his rebounding/blocking.

brandon wright is a huge steal imo

[/ QUOTE ]

Didn't work out for any teams and had his value dropped and now he's where he wants to be.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know we were the first team he worked out for against other players - was it the only one?

[/ QUOTE ]

When he worked out against the C's he worked out against a chair and I think it's the same for everyone else he worked out for.

How is Allen overrated? His skills play well with his age -- shooting, passing, efficiency -- and he's one of the NBA's top 20 players, bar none.

[/ QUOTE ] I never said he was an overrated offensive player. But he's a sieve on defense.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's a long-held belief about him, but it's been wrong for a very long time. Last year his dPER was 15.3, about average. (15 = average.) Year before? 15.6. 04-05? 13.7. 03-04? 12.7. So you get average to above-average D. Nothing wrong with that.

[/ QUOTE ]

I am surprised at that. I don't have Hollinger's book. Oliver's stats list him with a DRtg of 112 last year (116 and 112 the years before last), with a league average of 106. So, below average on D. He also got 2.6 defensive win shares (compared to 13.5 offensive win shares), so not that impressive. I will reserve judgement until I see him play.

On the other hand, I'm warming to the Celtics next year. They lose Scalabrine and Telfair, who were both awful last year, as well as Szczerbiak (who was just bad). So they will be better based on that alone. They really need Perkins, Green and/or Rondo to improve, though.

That's up to Ainge. MLE on Varejao? Get Joel Przybilla? DeSagana Diop? There are options.

A "great" player? I like both because they're low-turnover guys who can fit in a lot of places, and combined as one they can be fine PGs for an athletic system, but Delonte West assuredly isn't great.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well obv not a "great" player, I meant he is a pretty damn good. I've seen him play before and was very impressed, and he's still young. Most importantly he has something both our PG's don't, a goddamn jumpshot.

Agreed, there is no center that they can get
