These are the two main schools of thought about Andy Warhol as well, but I think he deserves his own thread. Many parallels between the two.

Its obvious that she is business savvy and knows how to make money. In that sense she is fairly smart. It also seems like she is a moron. So, both

it SEEMS like she is a moron though, the extent of what I know of her comes from her porno's and what I see here, I never watch the news about her/or anything she does. Seeming like a moron is completely different than being one though.

American culture more and more revolves around the cult of celebrity, and Paris is the first true professional celebrity - in the sense that she does absolutely nothing to be a celebrity (sports, movies, politics, etc.) - she just IS. Madonna was the first true pioneer of hype/promotion, but Paris has taken it to a whole new level, in the sense that there is nothing behind the hype. Think back to the classic Seinfeld NBC pilot shows - "the show is about nothing" - brilliant foreshadowing a decade before it came to be. Paris is a show about nothing. And why do people watch it? To quote Costanza, "because it's on TV". Porn stars are now legitimate celebrities - I mean it's now almost culturally OK to take 2 dicks in your ass at the same time because you are "famous".
Paris is a moron in the sense that she is absolutely ignorant and ditzy, but she know that pub = money, and she has great handlers. Classic case of any pub is good pub.

At first, because I kept hearing that she was 'a hilton heiress' I assumed she was 'the hilton heiress' and was going to inherit a gazillion dollars anyway and was probably a total embarassment to her family.

Then I discovered how many kids and grandkids were in the hilton clan, and that although her family is minted they are not gazillionaires.

Then I felt manipulated and used
