I know nothing about prop bets, but I will use some common sense that might not apply. If Gavin and Erick were truly in on this together, why would they not settle it in private? Why would they have a public deal that the whole world would know about.

i think he was referring to the buyout.

the buyout may have been to make it look more legit. johnny hughes wouldn't be the only person to suspect this...laying the "buyout" on thick would then be like ham & eggin' when you've got a monster.
