Kill yourself.
OK, don't. That choice sucks. Talk to your friend. Tell him what happened. Work out a payment plan. Stay the hell out of card rooms and off poker sites. I second the join the military advice. You need to get yourself cleaned up. You'll be a far better man at the end of 4-6 years.

How old are you, Soulshot?
How did you lose the 8k - taking shots, bad play, tilt? Is there any chance you could be a winning player? How did you manage to turn $30 into $8000 - what timeframe are we talking about? Are you in college? $3500 is a LOT of money when you're on $7/hour. Sadly enough you've no real chance of paying it back without putting aside some more money and spinning it up once again.
