Getting Rid of Stretch Marks?
Well the good thing is that i've pretty cleanly bulked from 165 to 200, the bad part is stretch marks...
Helppppppppppppp, I've tried Mederma, a bunch of Vitamin E, Moisturizer, drinking tons of water, and nothing works. Is there anything short of surgery that can help with these marks? |

Re: Getting Rid of Stretch Marks?
Sorry to disappoint you buddy, same thing happened to me as I went from 175 to 210 over the last couple years. I've got them on my inner bicep running onto my chest a little bit. Mederma helped fade them some, but you are basically stuck with them. I've heard they naturally fade over time, but I'm not too sure that is true.
P.S. There is no surgery that can fix them, and korch stretch marks aren't scar tissue. |

Re: Getting Rid of Stretch Marks?
I have some on the edge of my armpit. Surprising considering how slowly I gain weight, but really not a big deal because you can't see them unless I pull that skin up. Maybe some merit for mixing up bulking cycles with fat loss/fitness building ones!

Re: Getting Rid of Stretch Marks?
If they're still pink or red, and are less than 6 weeks old, you might get improvement by using a tretinoin such as Retin-A, renova, tazorac, etc.
If they're older, there's other stuff you can do but all require the help of a dermatologist. For prevention, a) sufficient dietary antioxidants (9-13 servings of non-starchy fruits/veggies per day), b) sufficient protein, c) a few grams of fish oil per day and a gram or so of borage oil, and d) a great multi vitamin with sufficient dosage of zinc and vitamin A. |

Re: Getting Rid of Stretch Marks?
I'm gaining weight like crazy so this kinda scares me. sarahbellum would you look at my diet in my log (it's still on the front page of this forum) and tell me if I need to add anything?

Re: Getting Rid of Stretch Marks?
Lol at thinking your diet will have any effect on getting stretch marks. Look, it's very simple. Gain or lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time and you will get stretch marks, the extent to which you get them however is largely genetic. I didn't really notice mine until I jumped 15 pounds in one year and as I've put on more muscle I notice them creeping into my armpits and onto my chest.
