Default Swings in omaha

I know omaha is a game of very high variance, but i was wondering how often do you guys have downswings of 4x buy in or more? It seems like i have a 4x buy in downswing like once every 1800-2500 hands Is this too frequent or normal?

I don't even break a sweat about 4+ buyin downswings in a day. I do feel I get tilted alot easier in Omaha and force myself to stop or take a break, where as in NLHE or any other game I play really, I can take beat after beat and still play solid poker. In omaha tho, when you get the wrong end of variance it stings much worse imo.

no swing in either direction can be considered abnormal in plo. its a sick, sick game like that.

win 3 or 4 coinflips and youre up huge. lose 3 or 4 and youre broke again. especially with todays hyper-lag action games.

Heh, I am opposite. It's really hard to tilt me in Omaha, I guess I've accepted the nuttiness. Whereas in HE I'll go off like a rocket.

You can drop four buy-ins pretty quick and it's not out of the ordinary. Stuff like that happens when you don't mind getting the money in with a tiny edge.

I think the size of your swings are a lot more dependent on the stakes you play.. If you play smaller stakes, its a lot easier to wait for the nuts, and get people in terrible spots. Thus, lower variance.

^ agree with southerndog.

I played 15k hands so far in .25/.5 and .5/1 and my biggest downswing has been 3-4 buy ins and this has only happened about once.
