Default Re: Lindgren\'s $340k Golf Prop Bet Today

Since he's playing to break 100, not to get the best score, and if he's a good long iron player, he can just take a 2 iron off the tee on the final 18, and just play for bogeys. Some hole's he might even make a nice chip and get pars. It would take double bogey and worse out of play.

Don't know anything about his play, whether he can chip or putt, but maybe he's a bad driver, and the rest of his game is ok.

Only drawback is that the course is pretty long. If it was 6800 yards, it'd be a lot easier.

qft.

in fact as a current 11 the first clubs I would take out are the long irons anyhow. bye bye 3 and 4. They simply come into play less with less consistency than the other clubs.

The last thing you want to do when limiting your club options is take distance and some consistency off the tee out of your bag. Some wood has to stay in there.
When I won the local two club event at our course (two years ago as a nine) I used utility wood/ 7iron to shoot 85 while many used something like 5 iron, putter.
Being 50 yards beyond everyone more than makes up for a couple extra putts I don't sink per round.
It also helps to have added the bellied utility wood shots around the green to your short game.

Anyhow- a little sidetrack about limiting the number of clubs.

We need Lindgren updates obviously.

Obv hope he is okay, but this is definitely a big part of the bet and why it's so hard. You have to not only manage to control your golf game, but also beat heat exhaustion / sun stroke / cramps / dehydration at the same time.
