Default JJ....more NL sucking

1/2 live...

I open to $10 UTG with JJ. two callers and a relatively new player makes it $40 with ~$270 behind. I have $200 behind. This player hasnt done anything really out of line yet out of the few hands I've seen him play. With these relative stacks, whats the play? Thanks.

i agree, it looks like an over pair, to call the $30 you need to have $300 more in both of your stacks so that you get 10 to 1 stack odds needed to flop a set.
Correct me if im wrong.

you are wrong, you need much more than 10-1 to play for pure set value here.

please explain this to me.
isn't it 7.5 to 1 to flop a set? surely calling when getting 10 to 1 stack odds is a safe play?

You're not going to stack him every time you flop a set. When you both flop sets, you lose your stack (assuming he has an overpair to yours.) Other factors at play. I disagree that it's "much more" though. 15-1 is more than enough to call.

yea 15-1 would be enough to call for set odds, if you are disciplined enough to check/fold rag undercards.
