2/4 B&M - play differently due to bad beat?
So lately the bad beat has been climbing at the local casino poker room and with only 8 tables maximum in play there's a pretty decent chance of being part of it so long as I put in the hours.
The question: do you play hands differently due to the bad beat? My usual 2/4 B&M table is very loose and passive. So for example, due to the rising bad beat should I be playing suited 1/2/3 gap cards from anywhere; a couple of weeks ago I chucked T7s UTG and of course made my straight flush by the turn (thankfully no one else made a hand), worth playing with a big bad beat? For example, the other day I raised with pocket aces and then checked both the flop and turn after flopping quads, hoping that someone would quad up themselves. Or should I just play as normal? Re: 2/4 B&M - play differently due to bad beat?
Play normally. Especially preflop. Altering postflop play for it is one reason JP tables are great as many players adjust when they shouldn't in this spot. Take advantage of the players loosening up, don't do it yourself.
Postflop, if the JP is high enough, you might make some calls that would otherwise be folds on certain streets. Simply add the JP amount that you might get to the pot size. But be realistic in your read. b |

bad beat jackpots are neat little ancillary benefits on the rare occasions that they are hit. trying to maximize bad beat "expectation" is going to be a sucker move. you are giving up way too much immediate EV in doing so. they are gimmicks to get the fish into the casino. you prey on the fish in your games. don't let the casino turn you into their fish.
