How would you react to this dealer error?
I was playing in $1/$3 no limit holdem game at a local casino. I ended up all-in with AA vs. KK. My opponent did not catch a set so I won a $400 pot. AFTER the dealer handed me the pot and mucked the board cards, he then realized that there WAS a straight on board. So he took half of the pot from by stack and gave it to my opponent.
Even though there was a straight on board, does the dealer have a right to make give half the pot back AFTER have gave me the pot and mucked the board cards? What would you do if you were in my shoes? |

I don't know if he has the right or not but I'm thinking if you made a fuss about it the other player could ask the floor over, then they may even have to look at it upstairs and if that happens, you have no chance of getting the whole pot anyway. I'd just let it go because it was the right call and I wouldn't want to be the table jerk the rest of the night.

First off Id ram an ice pick into the dealers temple then Id do the same to the player who said there was str8 on board. Proceed to run like hell with my cash.

Which dealer error?
His/her error was pushing the pot to you to begin with. The dealer has an obligaton to read the players' cards and the board, determine the best hand for each player and push the pot accordingly. You could call the floor, but you're not likely to get to keep the money. |

What would you do if you were in my shoes? [/ QUOTE ] I would be smart enough to see that there was a straight on the board. I would be honest enough not to accept the whole pot in the first place. I would be man enough to accept the fact that I split the pot instead of whining on an internet forum. |

The cards speak. There were two hands, both tabled appropriately, and the best hand ended up on the board. Even though the dealer pushed the pot in error at firt, the mistake was caught and corrected. Not only does the dealer have the right to split the pot, he has an obligation to do so.

If you received a pot and started stacking it, you would not be happy either if the dealer started touching your stack and took chips back. I have no problem splitting the pot during the hand. AFTER THE HAND, the dealer shouldn't mess with player's stacks. By the way, NO ONE at the stable noticed the straight on board. |

OK, lets see.
Either you didn't see the straight on the board, and Angus' first point about being smart enough to read the board is accurate, -OR- You did see the straight on the board and chose to accept the entire pot, which you did not deserve and thus you're a cheat. You choose, Mr. 6 posts who gets all huffy when a respected poster rightly criticizes you. |

Re: How would you react to this dealer error?
What a bunch of arrogant hypocrites. If you expect people to believe that you never misread a hand, then you should be selling used cars for a living.
Keep in mind that we were all-in on the flop, so the turn and river cards were only displayed for a few seconds before the dealer mucked them. By the way, whose job is it to read hands correctly? THE DEALER. And he misread it. So dealers make mistakes but the people responding to this question don't make mistakes? What a crock. |
