Default video recording with Vista

So I ve tried both camtasia and camstudio and both crashed/died/gave me errors. Are there any alternatives to those 2? Maybe i m just too lazy to get them to work. I m running an original 32bit Vista running at E6600 3150mhz ,2gb 800mhz ,nvidia 8800GTS.

i couldn't get camtasia or camstudio working. you might have some luck with windows media encoder (which is free). but that one skipped audio on me.

i ended up using camstudio with sound off (for some reason when i turn sound on everything craps out), and then i use audacity to record the audio.

i use virtualdub to merge the video/audio afterwards.
