hey ya

[/ QUOTE ]

Not true...Obadiah Parker improved on it imo. Do a youtube search to see it.

yeah this is a great version, but i think you are being impressed by how different it is.

If Obadiah parker did the original Hey Ya and then you heard Andre 3000 do it, you would have loved Andre's version.

Great cover, not better than the original.

Anyone else ever hear the Supersuckers' cover of it? Spot on. Not *better* than the original, but cool as all get out.

I'd go with "Alex Chilton" as my Replacements pick.

For songs of the one-hitter variety, I like "The Breakup Song" by the Greg Kihn Band.

Or, "No Myth" by Michael Penn

Since I have no idea what the difference between a "perfect in their own way" song and a favorite song is, I'll just list some of my favorites that never get old:

Third Eye Blind - Losing A Whole Year
Matchbox 20 - Real World
Goo Goo Dolls - Big Machine
The Wallflowers - One Headlight
Sarah McLachlan - Building A Mystery

Coincidentally, all of these songs are the first track on their respective albums. DUCY? Okay, I'll admit, the first 3 are 3 of my favorite songs ever then I just found the last two so I could have a nice list of Track 1's.

Elvis Costello - "Allison"

The Clash - "Train in Vain"

The Rolling Stones - "Gimme Shelter," and "Sympathy for the Devil"

Pretty much any version of "Sweet Jane"
