Default Clear Fold?

This is around my first 10 hands or so, no real reads on villian. On the turn, I figured I would stick a half-pot bet in there, if I get raised, I'm out. But his call confused me a bit.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed) converter

Button ($21.70)
SB ($72.40)
BB ($24.15)
UTG ($44.70)
UTG+1 ($96.70)
MP1 ($23.60)
MP2 ($69.20)
Hero ($18.25)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $1.5</font>, Button calls $1.50, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>.

Flop: ($3.75) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $2</font>, Button calls $2.

Turn: ($7.75) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $3.5</font>, Button calls $3.50.

River: ($14.75) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets $10</font>, Hero?

What hand does villain have that you beat?
88? 98?

You never know with some of these donks,
but even so, this is a fold IMO.

Well, not too sure how the playing levels are at these levels, normally a .50/1 player, but I really don't see villian playing that slow with a good K. And I really don't see him betting soo strongly on a river with a weak king as well. Is $10 really a value bet, especially when that was basically what we both had left?

You're thinking far too much for these levels. The river bet isn't strong at all, and alot of players love their top pair hands.

If you actually had AK and not 99, how much would you have bet on the flop?

Good point. Bet more.
I often have people calling my flop bet in similar situations, and when I bet the turn strongly, they fold. (Although I'm usually in position, which makes a big difference) His range is definately wider than a K.

The river is an easy fold. The turn is closer but a check/fold is probably best. A read would be super.
