Were you a successful 25NL player?

[/ QUOTE ]

pretty successful. yes.

[ QUOTE ]
At what point would you have considered dropping down a level?

[/ QUOTE ]
i was always afraid of stepping up to NL50 because its so much money that you can lose at once. So i played NL25 for quite a long time.
When i stepped up, i had over 40 buyins for NL50. I was successfully beating NL25, so there was no real need to drop down a limit. after losing 12 buyins on NL50, i still had 30 buyins left.

In another thread, somebody wrote "My guess is you need to start learning to play poker now if you're gonna play NL50". Well - i continued playing and learned.

What was your biggest adjustment for this level?

[/ QUOTE ]
* pre/postflop aggression
* paying attention to position

[ QUOTE ]
What did it end up taking to turn things around?

[/ QUOTE ]
* i moved from fullring to shorthanded
* became more aggressive preflop (yes, you can raise KQ)
* became more aggressive postflop (the villains really folded to my contibets)
* 3-betting of villain doesnt always mean AA/KK

I just moved up to NL50 and after 1500 hands I'm about the same point as you were (approx 4 buy-ins down).

It is very encouraging to see that you've turned it around and learnt more about the game. The is exactly the kind of post that I needed to see right now.

The amount on non-variance in that graph is absolutely insane. Here's mine for the last few months, including an 8 buy in downswing in march.
