They don't list The Good, the bad and the ugly which i think is #12 on IMDB. They list Unforgiven which doesn't even come close to that movie

[/ QUOTE ]

I assume because it's a Spaghetti Western...

Wasn't it on the last list though? Same with the Third Man. When that one didn't show up and it was time for the top 10, I honestly thought it might be in there.

I've seen 84/100.

filmie and regular guy are having a conversation about movies.

F: Psycho was just an such an incredible movie. I mean the ideas, the originality...

NG: yea...

F: Yeah, exactly. I mean, it just like revolutionalized the horror genre. I mean, Im 27 years old, but the first time I saw it.

NG: Yeah...

F: Exactly, exactly. I mean, it was just like wow....

NG: So do you want to watch it now or something

F: No no no, I dont want to watch it.

NG: No?

F: No. I mean, its [censored] boring.

Too many older films in there getting seniority points - like Vertigo.

[/ QUOTE ]

you could have picked on a lot of films on this list, but Vertigo is solid top 10 material imo. just because it is not a crowd pleaser doesn't mean it's not a good movie.

Considering it contains one of, if not the best, character performances ever to hit the silver screen, I think it's a slap in the face that Patton was excluded from the list. "Tootsie" over Patton? gtfo. Citizen Kane sucks too, no matter how revolutionary it was it's still incredibly boring.

very nice, Zeebo...thanks for explaining things to the unwashed masses. I think it's cool you revisted certain classics and learned to appreciate them, realizing they aren't just "entertainment."

now go watch King Kong for god's sake!

But I would like to see a list that is just the pure "best" movies. You should rate a movie like you taste food or drink wine - it should stand on it's own without any historical considerations at all.

[/ QUOTE ]

I see your point, but isn't good wine and certain food an acquired taste? So are certain knids of films that don't necessarily fit the "Hollywood blockbuster" mold of today.

"Toy Story" - I think including this and the other animated movies is really just an effort at some sort of filmmaking political correctness.

[/ QUOTE ]

Disagree. I'm not actually sure I've ever seen more than half of Toy Story, so I can't comment on the movie per se, but look at what that movie has spawned over the past 10 years - it's pretty ridiculous.

[/ QUOTE ]

Right, and I'm saying that being the first doesn't make it a better movie. What, without "Toy Story" we wouldn't have computer-generated animation? Oh, thank God for the angels that brought us "Toy Story", what would we be doing without them?

[/ QUOTE ]
Toy Story is one of the best children's movies I've ever seen. Most children's movies are nearly unbearable for adults. The Pixar films are actually really entertaining.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh you've never seen a Disney animated picture before 1994?
