A hand that has been turned face up and is clearly the winning hand cannot be killed on a technicality or dealer error. Any room that doesn't follow this essential policy would never see my business again.

yeah, you are; you basically begged him into the pot, and he took it down. If you had kept your mouth shut, you wouldn't have lost, and the proper hand should be awarded the pot...

It might be a tougher sell if the dealer had mucked the hand and it was irretrievable. You would almost certainly still lose this one on a floor decision, but as long as the hand is clearly retrivable from the muck, then it is entirely proper to do so.
