OP - Any room where they spread 4/8 is soft as a baby's bottom, there is no such thing as a tough 4/8 room in Vegas.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not so. I played in a rocky 4-8 at the Wynn last time I was there. A 3 way flop for 3b bets was considered "big" So at some of the bigger rooms you will more likely draw better players.

A better way is to judge the game and not the betting limits. Don't sit in a tight 4-8 game when there might be a perfectly loose 3-6 game down the street.

I think I played with some of those same people. When they're in the hand, they got something solid. I've played in a similar 4/8 at the Bellagio too.

I haven't played in all the rooms in Vegas, but I've never seen a tight table at the MGM. Wynn and Venetian both have been very tight at times.

Caesars was ok the last time I was there in March.

Just my opinion... and I'll restate my quantum theory of limits. If a place offers 2/4, 3/6 & 4/8 and then the next limit is 9/18; 4/8 will NOT be your softest game. Look to 2/4 or 3/6. On the other hand, if the offered limits are 4/8, 6/12 and 9/18, then 4/8 WILL be the softest game at that location.

Application: 4/8 is the LOWEST limit spread at Bellagio. It is the HIGHEST limit (most nights) at MGM. All things being equal, I would play the Bellagio 4/8 because all the clubbers and donkey tourists who acknowledge they are donkey tourists will want to sit down anyway and will ask to sit at the LOWEST limit available at that location.

Based on what I know about LLHE locations in LV, that makes Bellagio my first choice. At least one local has confirmed my opinion. By experience, I play MGM a lot when in LV and apply my theory. I think you are plenty ready for 4/8, but the lower tables at MGM are so crushable and the 4/8 tables gets some attention from those who believe they are good.

My limited experiences at Bally's rate those limit games as incredibly soft as well.

Don't let others bug you about your bankroll. And be aware that, in general, you are in the land of no fold'em hold'em and MUST ADJUST your play accordingly. The live play you encounter will be very different from what you encounter online. Tight PF play and relentless value betting are the keys to EV+ play. If you get on a roll, then throw the bluffs back into your game. And DON'T give too much credit to your opponent until they have proven that they know how to play.

I play these games and by following these rules I came home winning 5 out of my last 6 LV trips. Have fun.

i get more replies on bad retelling of hands than on serious questions... perhaps a shift in stretegy is called for..

[/ QUOTE ]

Just make sure you misspell a couple words when you post a serious question. That should do the trick.

my favorite hand, like 7 limpers preflop, i'm in bb w/ j7o
79T rainbow on flop... guy donks and i overcall 6 ppl.

Also a guy can't donk into the field if there was no pre-flop raiser. Seriously... you must suck at retelling hands.

Limits have nothing to do with looseness of the game.

The 1-3 Stud at the El Cortez is the tightest game in town with an average age of 70

Alright, I know, all 4-8 is supposed to be soft... but I am headed out to Vegas for a week and my bankroll says I can't even think about going higher than 4-8 limit.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just curious - how big is your bankroll (for the trip, not necessarily your entire roll)? Seems to me that a lot of online players overestimate how low they need to play live.

I've never seen a tough $4/8 game at the Bellagio. I'd say it plays roughly like a Stars .25/.50 game.

Thats rediculous, you just took my statement and fitted it to your own needs. There is no such thing as a room with tough 4/8 games in Vegas. Period. On occasion any room in Vegas can develop a tough(er) table, but to say one room in Vegas is better than another at the 4/8 level is really a silly thing to say because its not true. 4/8 games in Vegas are soft as a baby's bottom in general.

With all due respect TT, I think you are answering from the POV of a much more experienced higher limit live player, NOT from the POV of the OP.

Let me ask it this way. Say your best friend who had never played live before was coming to LV with a $1k bankroll and a week. Your friend is bound and determined to play a lot of 4/8. Do you mean to tell me you have NO OPINION about which casino he should start at and why? I'll bet that you DO have an opinion about which casino your friend should hit first and why.
