I actually really like the weather there (been there twice), but living expenses there are pretty rediculous. I don't know the whole spectrum of costs, but I know property and gas are rediculous.

I thought australia had gambling tax, I remember reading something about Joe Hatchem winning a court case that said he only turned professional *after* winning the WSOP so he didn't have to pay any.

Very little (not sure how much though)...I was a student last year and only learned to play September 2004 so my poker income last year is only like 12k and 4k CDN from a research assistant job.

This year poker will probably be close to 100k though. I'm saving up a few grand a month now just for taxes. Damn you, Uncle Sam.

you should start making quarterly estimated payments if you don't want to pay late fees come April 2007

No taxes here in Sweden =] (atleast if you play on the right sites, if you don't you pay taxes for all your winnings but can't discount your losses, so that basically sucks)

No taxes on poker winnings in Norway (as long as single pots or tournament winnings don't exceed $1500, and I don't play tournaments or $10,000/$20,000). Norway rules in this regard.

Had I held a normal job, though, 60-70% of my money would go to the government.
