I did this today, except I handed the cashier a hundred dollar bill. The cashier smiled at me and said that I owed her another $45.03. I then took the hundred back and gave her a credit card.

Whenever my dad drives through toll booths (not often, mostly when we travel), he pays for the car behind him. One time a family actually drove fast and caught us and help up a sign in the window that said "Thank you!". It was pretty cool.
